Michael S. Aktipis
Research Associate

Michael Aktipis is currently a third-year J.D. candidate at Harvard Law School. After graduating magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Northwestern University in 2002 with degrees in Economics, Political Science and German, Michael spent a year at the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna (Austria) as a Fulbright Scholar. He received his Ph.D. in International Relations from the London School of Economics in 2007 where he was a Marshall Scholar, the Founder and Chair of the LSE European Foreign Policy Conference, and Deputy Editor of Millennium: Journal of International Studies.

At Harvard Law School, Michael serves as President of the National Security and Law Association and has served as Submissions Editor of the Harvard International Law Journal. He also has extensive experience in the public sector, having worked for the U.S. House of Representatives, the Justice Department, the Department of the Treasury, and the Department of Defense. He spent last summer as a Summer Associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in New York City and London.
