Research Director
- Has responsibility for management and day-to-day coordination of the Committee’s research.
- Participates in the economic and legal research and analysis of issues studied by the Committee and is responsible to assist in outreach to parties in connection with implementation of the Committee’s recommendations.
- Assists the Director in identifying, engaging and coordinating the Committee’s researchers.
- Recruits and supervises Harvard Law School and other research associates who support the Committee’s research, including quarterly updates of the Committee’s competitiveness measures.
- Drafts and edits reports, statements and press releases based on the research and activities of the Committee.
- Travels to meet with researchers, attends Committee meetings, and represents the Committee at various events.
The Research Director may possess a background in any of the following areas: someone with a graduate degree in economics/finance or a law degree at an academic institution; someone with a graduate degree in economics/finance or a law degree in the private sector (e.g., management or other consulting firms); someone with a graduate degree in economics/finance or law degree in the public sector (e.g., a federal or state regulatory agency); a member of the staff of a trade association with experience in regulatory and economic topics; a member of the staff of a public affairs office with experience in regulatory and economic topics; a member of the staff of a think tank with experience in regulatory and economic topics; and a member of the staff of a foundation with experience in regulatory and economic topics.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience in financial regulation and a graduate degree in economics/finance or a law degree.
Compensation: $130,000; competitive benefits
Work week: The position is a full time position—a work week of 5 days.
The Research Director position offers an individual the opportunity to supervise world class research and engage with high level policy makers to assist in the implementation of the recommendations of the Committee’s recent report entitled, “The Global Financial Crisis: A Plan for Regulatory Reform.”
The position could start as early as possible—November, although arrangements could be made for the individual to join at a later date. Residence in the Cambridge/Boston area is preferred.
